There is considerable talk of the coming revival in the air, but we need to have the vision to see that the revival we need and the only one that can be worth having is one that is born of the Holy Spirit, which brings deep conviction for sin, and regeneration for those who seek God’s face. Such a revival comes at the end of a season of real praying, and it is utter folly to talk about or expect a revival without the Holy Spirit operating in His peculiar office, conditioned on much earnest praying. Such a revival will begin in pulpit and pew alike, will be promoted by both preacher and lay-man working in harmony with God.

Getting ready for evening prayer. – Terry
Holy Father, keep us in your name, whom you have given to Jesus Christ, your Son and our High Priest, that we may be one, even as you and He are one. While He was with His disciples, He kept them in your name, which you had given Him. He guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has come to you, and these things He spoke in the world, that we may have His joy fulfilled in us. He has given to us your word, and the world has hated us because we are not of the world, just as He is not of the world. We now pray, as our Lord prayed to you, do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one. We are not of the world, just as He is not of the world. Sanctify us in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent Him into the world, so He has sent us into the world. And for our sake He did consecrate Himself, that we also may be sanctified in truth. We do not ask on behalf of ourselves only, but also for those who will believe in your Son through our word, that we may all be one, just as you, Father, are in your Son, and He in you, that we also may be in you, Father, and in your Son, so that the world may believe that you have sent Him. The glory that you have given Jesus Christ, He has given to us, that we may be one even as you and He are one, He in us and you in He, that we may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent Him and love us even as you love Him. Father, we desire that we also, whom you have given your Son, may be with Him where He is, to see His glory that you have given Him because you have loved Him before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, He knows you, and we know that you have sent Him. He has made known to us, His people, your name, and He will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved Him may be in us, and He in us. We thank you, most holy and merciful Father, for hearing His prayer for us. Now as we pray according to His words, we are assured that you, Father, also hear us. Therefore, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we offer to you, our Father, by the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever; our praise and thanksgiving. Amen.
