Jesus the Messiah

A summary of Paul’s address to the men of Athens: If you want to know the unknown God of metaphysics and philosophy, then come to know this Jewish man named Jesus the Messiah, whom God raised from the dead, and it is of utmost importance that you do, for He will judge you by this very same man.

This is truly an amazing thing our God has done; the more we meditate on just how world and life changing this is…this drives me to prayer each and everyday, for if my Creator did this for me, then there is no prayer He will not answer offered to Him in humility and desperate need in the Name of Jesus Christ, His Son, by the Spirit given to me, in whom I live move and have my being.

My prayer is that He will not hold anything back of Himself from me, for I willing give everything I am to Him without reservation…this is grace unspeakable and full of glory!

What You Lose, While You Abide in an Unconverted State

Search the Scriptures, and consider how happy the saints of God are there described. Think what it is, to have a purified, cleansed soul; to be free from the slavery of the flesh and its concupiscence; to have the sensitive appetite in subjection unto reason, and reason illuminated and rectified by faith; to be alive to God, and disposed and enabled to love and serve him; to have access to him in prayer, with boldness and assurance to be heard; to have a sealed pardon of all our sins, and an interest in Christ, who will answer for them all and justify us; to be the children of God, and the heirs of heaven; to have peace of conscience, and the joyful hopes of endless joys; to have communion with the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit, and to have that Spirit dwelling in us, and working to our further holiness and joy; to have communion with the saints; and the help and comfort of all God’s ordinances, and to be under his many precious promises, and under his protection and provision in his family, and to cast all our care upon him; to delight ourselves daily in the remembrance and renewed experiences of his love, and in our too little knowledge of him, and love to him, and in the knowledge of his Son, and of the mysteries of the gospel; to have all things work together for our good, and to be able with joy to welcome death, and to live as in heaven in the foresight of our everlasting happiness…This taste may help you to see what you lose, while you abide in an unconverted state.

The Law of Prayer

Jesus Christ, God’s Leader and Commander of His people, lived and suffered under this law of prayer. All His personal conquests in His life on earth were won by obedience to this law, while the conquests which have been won by His representatives since He ascended to heaven, were gained only when this condition of prayer was heartily and fully met. Christ was under this one prayer condition. His Apostles were under the same prayer condition. His saints are under it, and even His angels are under it. By every token, therefore, preachers are under the same prayer law. Not for one moment are they relieved or excused from obedience to the law of prayer. It is their very life, the source of their power, the secret of their religious experience and communion with God.

Sunday – Prayer from Jesus Christ’s High Priestly Prayer

 John 17:11-26

Holy Father, keep us in your name, whom you have given to Jesus Christ, your Son and our High Priest, that we may be one, even as you and He are one. While He was with His disciples, He kept them in your name, which you had given Him. He guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has come to you, and these things He spoke in the world, that we may have His joy fulfilled in us. He has given to us your word, and the world has hated us because we are not of the world, just as He is not of the world. We now pray, as our Lord prayed to you, do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one. We are not of the world, just as He is not of the world. Sanctify us in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent Him into the world, so He has sent us into the world. And for our sake He did consecrate Himself, that we also may be sanctified in truth. We do not ask on behalf of ourselves only, but also for those who will believe in your Son through our word, that we may all be one, just as you, Father, are in your Son, and He in you, that we also may be in you, Father, and in your Son, so that the world may believe that you have sent Him. The glory that you have given Jesus Christ, He has given to us, that we  may be one even as you and He are one, He in us and you in He, that we may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent Him and love us even as you love Him. Father, we desire that we also, whom you have given your Son, may be with Him where He is, to see His glory that you have given Him because you have loved Him before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, He knows you, and we know that you have sent Him. He has made known to us, His people, your name, and He will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved Him may be in us, and He in us. We thank you, most holy and merciful Father, for hearing His prayer for us. Now as we pray according to His words, we are assured that you, Father, also hear us. Therefore, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we offer to you, our Father, by the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever; our praise and thanksgiving. Amen

Do Not Come Down from Your Cross

And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
Matthew 27:39‭-‬43 ESV
