Jesus the Messiah

A summary of Paul’s address to the men of Athens: If you want to know the unknown God of metaphysics and philosophy, then come to know this Jewish man named Jesus the Messiah, whom God raised from the dead, and it is of utmost importance that you do, for He will judge you by this very same man.

This is truly an amazing thing our God has done; the more we meditate on just how world and life changing this is…this drives me to prayer each and everyday, for if my Creator did this for me, then there is no prayer He will not answer offered to Him in humility and desperate need in the Name of Jesus Christ, His Son, by the Spirit given to me, in whom I live move and have my being.

My prayer is that He will not hold anything back of Himself from me, for I willing give everything I am to Him without reservation…this is grace unspeakable and full of glory!

The Highest Form of Religious Life is Attained by Prayer

The highest form of religious life is attained by prayer. The richest revelations of God–Father, Son, and Spirit–are made, not to the learned, the great or the “noble” of earth, but men of prayer. “For ye see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called,” to whom God makes known the deep things of God, and reveals the higher things of His character, but to the lowly, inquiring, praying ones. And again must it be said, his is as true of preachers as of laymen. It is the spiritual man who prays, and to praying ones God makes His revelations through the Holy Spirit.

A Prayerless Preacher is a Misnomer

The thing far above all other things in the equipment of the preacher is prayer. Before everything else, he must be a man who makes a specialty of prayer. A prayerless preacher is a misnomer. He has either missed his calling, or has grievously failed God who called him into the ministry. God wants men who are not ignoramuses, who “study to show themselves approved.” Preaching the Word is essential; social qualities are not to be underestimated, and education is good; but under and above all else, prayer must be the main plank in the platform of the man who goes forth to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ to a lost and hungry world. The one weak spot in our Church institutions lies just here. Prayer is not regarded as being the primary factor in church life and activity, and other things, good in their places, are made primary. First things need to be put first, and the first thing in the equipment of a minister is prayer.

Because the Hour of His Judgment Has Come

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
Revelation 14:6‭-‬7 ESV

A Gospel Tract I Wrote A Few Months Ago

Jesus Christ – Our Brother, Our Savior

Hello, dear reader. Let me introduce myself.

My name is Terry. I am a husband to a beautiful wife and a father of 8 children. I am a fellow sinner who needed and still needs my Savior and Brother Jesus Christ everyday of my life. I am so very glad you decided to pick up this tract and take time to read it. I have been praying that you would find this tract, so that I can tell you about Jesus.

I do not know you, your name nor your situation, but God does. Jesus knows you. He knows your name. He knows your hurts. Your sins. Your failures. Your addiction. Your feelings of helplessness. Your depression. Your tears. Your frustration. Your fears. Your desperation. Wherever you are right now. No matter your situation. He knows all about it and sees you right where you are right now.

The fact that you are reading these words right now means He is drawing you, and He is right there with you, by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said no one comes to Him unless the Father in heaven draws that person – you, dear reader, to Him. So, know in your heart that Jesus has come looking for you. He has come to find you. To save you from your sin. To call you to faith in Him and make you His own.

Just as God saw that we all, as members of the human race, have sinned and rebelled against our good Creator. That we have all broken His laws. That we have sinned against Him. That we have, because of our sinful hearts, hurt ourselves, hurt others or been hurt by others like ourselves. So, God sent His Son Jesus to become in every way human like us, except with no sin in Him, to be born like us into this fallen sinful world. To live among us. To grow up in the same world as we have grown up in.To teach us of the Father in heaven, our Creator. To also suffer and die for us so that we can be forgiven, healed and saved from the power of sin, death and the devil. The Evil One  who desires to see us destroyed and suffer an eternal separation from our good Creator and God in hell.

Jesus set aside His eternal glory as God and became a little lower than the angels for a time, to take our very nature, as a man and become our brother so that He could call us out of our darkness and sin. He did this to bear in His own person, on the cross, all of our sins, all of our guilt, to shed His own blood, to have His body broken, in order to pay the penalty of death that we all deserve as sinners and rebels against God and His good laws. This rebellion and sinfulness of our hearts is the reason we find ourselves in the desperate situation we are in. The situation you are in right now, dear reader. God is calling to you right now! Jesus is saying to you, “Come to me! Believe on me! I have tasted death for you! I have accomplished the work that God the Father gave me to do for you. Call upon my name and be saved!”

So, that by faith in Jesus Christ alone, you, dear reader can and will know forgiveness of all your sins and be given eternal life! You can know this without any doubt because this same Jesus, who became your brother in life and in death, also rose from the dead and by doing so conquered death and broke the power of death and of the devil! The Evil One who has had you, in his power, as a slave to your sins and your hurts. By simply calling upon the name of Jesus and trusting in Him alone and believing that He did all that for you, dear reader, you will be forgiven, cleansed from all your sin and be called a son or daughter of the Father in heaven. You will be assured of that eternal life in heaven by the Holy Spirit given to you.

The same Holy Spirit at work in you right this very moment as you read these words. Do not hesitate, my dear reader! Cast all your cares upon Jesus! All your sins. All your hurts. All that you are – just as you are right now – lay it all at the feet of Jesus, lay hold on Him alone and ask Him to forgive you and make you whole.

If you feel the love of God in your heart right now and feel the weight of sorrow for all your sins against such a good God. Take comfort in knowing that He first loved you! This is the reason He left His glory in heaven to come to this world to die for you! This is the reason He has come right now to find you, dear reader, though you have been lost for so long it seems.

Let me say that He did this very thing for me too. He came and found me in my sin, in my darkness! Even after I had been so rebellious, so disobedient, so sinful and hurt those whom I loved the most. Even after I had sinned so greatly against my loving merciful Lord and God, He came and found me too. I am forever grateful for His love towards me a wretched sinner.

Call on Jesus now! Confess your sinfulness. Acknowledge your need of His grace. Ask for His mercy in the forgiveness of your sins. Place your trust in Him and the work He did for you and you will be saved. This is what is meant by being saved by faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. As a result you will receive His very righteousness, freely given to you, as if it is your very own, in place of the sin and guilt you have carried all your life. You will have peace with God, your Creator, your Father, your Judge and you will receive the joy of eternal hope and life in Him alone. The Holy Spirit will pour the love of God into your heart. This is salvation. This is the day of salvation!

Come all you wretched sinners, in need of forgiveness and salvation, to the God who calls Himself, by name, our Father, our Brother, and our Life, through Jesus Christ alone, by faith alone, so shall you be forgiven, washed clean, the power of death and the devil broken and called His sons and daughters unto eternal life and joy!

Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Hebrews 2:9-18

But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.  In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.  He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.” Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
